Disclaimer: DS uses PSSR1 natively, so this page still displays PSSR1 metrics. However, as of September 26, the 'Enhance PSSR Image Quality' toggle (which forces PSSR2 upscaling) is activated by default. PSSR2 was made the default because it resolves a sharper, more stable image and removes PSSR1's film grain-like noise. If you experience image quality issues though, deactivate the toggle in PS5 system settings to see if PSSR1 produces better results.
While the native 4K in base PS5's cinematic (quality) mode is a little sharper than PS5 Pro mode, it's also far more noisy, more aliased, and less temporally stable than the 1440p-1584p DRS to 4K PSSR in the Pro mode, which therefore has the better image quality despite the lower internal resolution. PS5 Pro mode also has improved shadows and a locked 60fps, therefore making the legacy cinematic/performance modes redundant.
