Disclaimer: Despite Frostpunk 2 not being marked as Pro Enhanced on the PSN store, it absolutely is by the mere fact that it offers PSSR as an upscaler. It also uses PSSR1 natively, so this page still displays PSSR1 metrics. However, as of September 26, the 'Enhance PSSR Image Quality' toggle (which forces PSSR2 upscaling) is activated by default. PSSR2 was made the default because it resolves a sharper, more stable image and removes PSSR1's film grain-like noise. If you experience image quality issues though, deactivate the toggle in PS5 system settings to see if PSSR1 produces better results.
Based off other UE5 games that also give the choice between PSSR and TSR (like Hellblade 2, Hell Is Us etc), it's likely that TSR upscales a more stable image, but the difference is only slight and neither provide a FPS advantage. Base PS5 has the same modes but at (presumably) worse internal resolutions, though pixel counts aren't currently available.
